Account deletion
Delete your nowish account
You do not need the app or your password. We will email a short-lived code to the address on the account before anything is deleted.
Deletion cannot be undone. The original email and credentials will stop working, data will no longer be available through the live account, and nowish does not offer an undo or account-recovery process after deletion.
Account deleted
Your original nowish email and credentials no longer work. It is safe to remove the app from your devices.
The deletion request completed successfully.
What deletion removes
- your active account identity, email, display name, password verifier, login sessions, Terms acceptances and account-recovery material;
- device notification tokens, personal blocks and mutes, and other account-only preferences;
- groups where you are the only member, including their tasks and history;
- your membership and key access in shared groups; and
- beta feedback and feedback screenshots linked to your signed-in account.
What may remain
- Shared groups: groups with other members continue for them. Ownership is transferred when necessary, your attribution is stripped, and the remaining group is told to rotate its encryption key.
- A pseudonymous former-member record: the database keeps an opaque deleted-account identifier so shared relationships and safety records remain internally consistent. It no longer contains your original email or display name, but it can remain linked to retained safety history.
- Safety records: moderation evidence, action history, and historical group-ban records may remain for abuse prevention, legal obligations, and audit integrity. A retained ban record stays attached only to the deleted account ID; it does not automatically restrict a new account later registered with the former email. Structured account-email and profile-name fields are removed. Free-text report reasons, moderator notes or escalation records, and reported group, task, or step text may remain as evidence and could independently mention identifying context.
- Backups: older copies may remain until the applicable backup lifecycle expires. The current beta has not yet published a firm maximum for every off-site backup.
- Operational and provider logs: request, container, security, email-delivery, or similar service-provider records may remain under the unresolved retention practices described in the Privacy Policy. The live account-deletion transaction does not directly erase those separate logs.
Using the app instead
You can start the same permanent process from the account section in nowish Settings. Leaving a group, signing out, clearing app storage, or uninstalling the app does not delete your account.
The current beta does not sell subscriptions. If a Google Play subscription is introduced later, deleting a nowish account will not cancel that subscription; subscriptions must be managed separately in Google Play.
