Terms & Community Rules
nowish is a shared task app for getting things done together. These terms describe the ground rules for using it and, especially, for anything you share with other people.
nowish is still being tested. Features may change, break, or be withdrawn. Questions and support: contact@nowish.ca. Beta testers can also reach the operator through the feedback button in the app.
1. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or accepting the Community Rules in the app, you agree to this version of the Terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or share content. If the rules change materially, nowish may ask you to review and accept a newer version before you can keep using shared features.
2. Accounts
Provide an email address you control, choose an appropriate display name, and keep your password and devices secure. You are responsible for activity performed through your account. Do not access another person’s account, evade a removal or block, or interfere with the service.
nowish is not directed to children under 13. If you are not old enough to agree to these terms where you live, use nowish only with the permission and supervision required by law.
3. Content and shared groups
Group names, display names, task names, and task steps can be visible to the other members of a group. Only join groups you trust, and do not put information into a shared task that you would not want those members to see.
You keep whatever rights you have in content you create. You give nowish only the limited permission needed to store, encrypt, transmit, synchronize, back up, and—when you deliberately report something—review and moderate that content to operate and protect the service. You promise that you have the right to share what you submit.
4. Community Rules
Do not use a display name, group name, task, step, report, or other nowish feature for:
- harassment, bullying, stalking, credible threats, or targeted abuse;
- hate speech or abuse aimed at a person or group because of a protected characteristic;
- pornographic or sexually explicit content, sexual exploitation, sexual content involving minors, grooming, or any other child-safety harm;
- graphic violence, glorifying real-world violence, or promoting violent extremist activity;
- encouraging self-harm, suicide, or dangerous acts;
- publishing private or sensitive personal information without permission;
- impersonation, scams, fraud, spam, malware, or deceptive links;
- promoting or coordinating illegal activity; or
- evading a block, group removal, rejoin ban, moderation action, or other safety control.
Context matters, but calling abusive material a joke or putting it inside a “todo” does not make it acceptable.
5. Reports, blocking, and enforcement
You can report shared content or another group member from inside the app. After a clear confirmation, selecting a report target sends a readable, text-only snapshot to a 15-minute submission window so an edit or removal cannot erase it while you complete the form. Submitting sends that snapshot and your report details to the nowish moderation queue; an abandoned reservation expires without becoming a report and routine cleanup erases its readable evidence. Ordinary encrypted content is not silently opened for moderation. You can also block a person for your own view. Group creators and administrators have additional tools to remove members or content.
nowish may review reports, preserve relevant evidence, restrict visibility, remove content or members, rotate an invite, prevent a removed account from rejoining a group, or take no action when a report does not establish a violation. Serious child-safety matters or credible threats may be preserved or referred when required to protect someone or comply with law.
Reports are not monitored as an emergency service. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
6. Privacy and encryption
The Privacy Policy explains what nowish collects and how encryption, account recovery, feedback screenshots, and moderation reports work. It is part of these Terms.
7. Availability and changes
The beta is provided on an “as available” basis. nowish may change, pause, or end features and may need to perform maintenance or security updates. To the extent permitted by applicable law, no promise is made that the beta will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing here removes rights that cannot legally be waived.
8. Ending your use
You may stop using the app at any time. See Delete your nowish account for the account-deletion process and a clear description of what is deleted, privacy-redacted, or retained. Leaving a shared group and deleting your account are different actions.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in Alberta, Canada, without taking away any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
